In EDLD 566, I learned a great deal about digital graphics that I can put to good use in my current position with ESC Region 12. I handle most of the marketing for our department in E-Rate support services so the class helped hone my skills particularly in design principles, logo design, Photoshop use, and website design.

By learning the C.R.A.P. design principles, I am able to create useful and effective graphic designs for marketing purposes. I created an E-Rate postcard that effectively showcased contrast in both color and font, repetition in my message of “E-Rate Consulting”, a two-column layout with alignment variations, and proximity to drive home important pieces of my message.

In this course, I also learned how to create a logo using Photoshop. I realize this program is extremely complex and can perform most all design creations. Animation has proven to be an useful 21st Century classroom tool for reaching all students by providing a visual component of learning which enhances learning. By the use of animation, students who are visual learners are more engaged and comprehend more by the use of multimedia tools such as animation. It was very enlightening learning to create an animation and how advanced technology is to be so user friendly that anyone can create an animation; even the most digitally illiterate person can do it!

Finally, website design and creation was also part of EDLD 5366. In this part of the course, my team created a website for our pseudo school district to provide information and resources for students, teachers, parents, and administrators. Each page offers a unique message for the target audience along with a multimedia element. I can leverage my new found knowledge about digital graphics to enhance my job focus and reach more districts who need E-Rate support.
